Mental and Behavioral Health
We strive to equip young individuals with the tools they need to navigate their mental health journey and thrive in their everyday lives.
Youth Engagement Program
Youth and young adults often under-utilize mental health services due to limited access to care, a lack of youth-centered approaches, and the complexity of navigating the mental health system.
One critical gap is the absence of youth and peer voices in shaping the services designed to support them. This program seeks to address that gap by engaging college-aged youth in meaningful collaboration around shared goals and decision-making.
Participants serve on a student advisory committee that meets monthly to explore solutions to the mental health crisis and help guide improvements in mental and behavioral health systems.
Mental Health First Aid Training
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training is an evidence-based program that teaches individuals how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges.
- Similar to physical first aid, MHFA provides tools to offer initial support to someone experiencing a mental health crisis or developing a mental health issue, until professional help is available. Participants learn to recognize common disorders like depression, anxiety, psychosis, and addiction, and how to approach someone with empathy, assess for risk, and connect them to appropriate resources. The training is valuable for workplaces, schools, and communities aiming to reduce stigma and promote mental well-being.

Question, Persuade, and Refer Suicide Prevention Training
Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) Training is a suicide prevention program that teaches individuals how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond effectively. The training focuses on three key steps: Question the person about suicidal thoughts, Persuade them to seek help, and Refer them to appropriate resources. Designed for anyone, regardless of background, QPR equips participants with practical tools to intervene early, offer hope, and potentially save lives. It is often compared to CPR, emphasizing the importance of early action in a mental health emergency.
